Returns and withdrawal.
Dutch and EU consumer law gives you the right to cancel your order within 14 days of delivery. Damaged or dead-on-arrival plants are handled under our separate arrival policy.

[W] Withdrawal
14-day right.
Under Dutch law (Burgerlijk Wetboek, Art. 6:230o), you have the right to cancel your order without giving a reason within 14 days of receiving your delivery. This is called the herroepingsrecht (right of withdrawal).
To exercise this right, notify us within the 14-day window. You can do this by:
- Using the withdrawal button on your order confirmation page (order number required).
- Emailing hello@brightnessbased.shop with your order number and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw.
Pending legal review
Dutch law may limit or exclude the right of withdrawal for perishable or living goods (Art. 6:230p sub e BW). Whether this carve-out applies to potted live plants sold in the Netherlands requires legal confirmation. This section will be updated before checkout opens.

Process.
Specific steps will be confirmed before checkout opens.
The operator-confirmed process will provide return instructions after a valid withdrawal notice. Final plant condition and handling requirements remain to be approved.
Owner to confirm
Return shipping responsibility (customer-paid or prepaid label), packaging requirements, drop-off instructions, and accepted return condition will be added here before launch.

Refund process.
Refund timeline will be confirmed before checkout opens.
The live operator must define and implement the refund workflow in line with the final legal position. No refund handling is currently operational.

Refund timeline, deductions (if any for diminished value), and the handling of original shipping costs will be documented here before launch.
[D] Damaged plants
Arrived unhealthy?
Plants that arrive dead, severely damaged, or in significantly worse condition than described are handled under our arrival policy, not the withdrawal process. The arrival policy is faster and does not require you to return the plant.
The proposed launch flow asks customers to email hello@brightnessbased.shop with an order number and photo. The final reporting window requires operator approval.
